Browser Python
Browser Python runs your program inside this tab, on Pyodide, a build of Python 3.12 for WebAssembly. Nothing goes to a server when you press Run. Charts from Matplotlib and Plotly open in a Plots tab beside the terminal, and a package you import is fetched for you the first time it is needed.
How to run Browser Python code online
- This page opens with Browser Python selected, so you can start typing straight away.
- Write your code in the editor, or open files from your computer: single files, or a whole project as a .zip.
- Press Run, or Ctrl+Enter. The output appears in the panel beside the editor, and when the program asks for input you type it there and press Enter.
- Share a copy with a link, or save your files to your computer.
Pyodide 0.27 on Online IDE
- The first Run takes a few seconds while Python downloads to your browser. After that your browser keeps it, and later runs start quickly.
- Import a package and it is fetched for you, from Pyodide's own collection or from PyPI if it is pure Python.
- plt.show() and fig.show() open your chart in the Plots tab, with buttons to expand or download it.
- input() asks in the terminal: type your answer there and press Enter.
- To keep your saved projects private, programs on this page cannot fetch data from other websites.
Example: a chart with Matplotlib
import matplotlib.pyplot as plt
import numpy as np
x = np.linspace(0, 10, 200)
fig, ax = plt.subplots(figsize=(8, 5))
ax.plot(x, np.sin(x) * np.exp(-0.1 * x), label="Fading sine")
ax.plot(x, np.cos(x) * np.exp(-0.1 * x), label="Fading cosine")
ax.set_title("Two fading waves")
ax.set_xlabel("Time (s)")
ax.legend()
ax.grid(True, alpha=0.3)
plt.show()

Frequently asked questions
Does my code leave my computer on this page?
No. Python runs inside your browser tab, so your program and its output stay on your device. Only a share link stores a copy of your code on our server.
Which packages can I import?
The standard library, the packages Pyodide ships such as NumPy, pandas, SciPy and Matplotlib, and pure Python packages from PyPI. Each one is fetched the first time your code imports it.
How do I see a chart?
Call plt.show() in Matplotlib or fig.show() in Plotly. The chart opens in the Plots tab next to the terminal, where you can expand it or download it.
Can a program ask for input?
Yes. When your program calls input(), the question appears in the terminal. Type your answer and press Enter, however long you take.
Can a program download data from a website?
No. Programs on this page cannot reach other websites, which keeps your saved projects private when you run code someone shared with you. Put the data in a new file tab and read it from there.
